Flowers (A Poem)

Flowers, colorful like a summers day
All worries and cares away.
Bright and beautiful
Like the radiance of the world.
The sun shines down on you
and sometimes rain will fall from the
clouds that gaze upon you.

Dancing in the rain (updated)

Splashing in the puddles
we dance in the rain.
Jumping and laughing
it feels like we could
do this all day.
Dancing reminds us
of how happy life can be.
Flashes of lightning
glimmer from the sky
and we dance
we dance to forget.
To forget the pain as we
let the rain wash it away.
We splash
with flowers in our hair
a reminder of the
beauty that is held within us.
We dance.

Where Friendship Goes Wrong: A True Story: Learning how to Drive!

Anna finally gets her permit and she couldn't be more excited! Driving meant more freedom from everyone. Since she just got her permit she was hoping her mom would teach her, she is more understanding and not as hard on her. But, sadly her mom wanted her dad to teach her so it took them forever to come to an agreement. She was able to convince her parents to take her to a parking lot to start learning, which Anna thought was funny because it ended up being the Hobby Lobby parking lot. It really didn't go well, her dad kept yelling at her and Anna never really knew what she was doing wrong. Anna's dad decided that he didn't want to teach her after that experience so that meant her mom had to. Anna was sad but extremely happy when she found this out. Not a lot of people were patient enough to teach her things.

A few weeks went by and no one was willing to teach her how to drive. That is until Brian learned that she got her permit and wasn't able to drive. He told her that after school for the next few days he would teach her. The only issue is, he has a stick shift and that made Anna even more terrified, but he told her not to worry. Honestly Anna didn't want to ruin his car, but he didn't seem to worried. It was the first day and Anna met him down in the student parking lot. He had a red Chevy Cavalier so he was decently easy to find in the parking lot. Anna hopped into the driver seat and they took off, as fast as they could anyway. It was a little rocky at first, but that was to be expected. Later came a lot of laughing, but Anna eventually figured it out, She decided to turn out into the neighborhood because she was feeling confident. That's when Brian looked at her and said "time to hop on the highway!' Anna looked at him at and yelled "Oh hell no!" He laughed at Anna as he said, "No, I just wanted to go to Sam Goody again, want to come." Of course Anna did so they switched seats and drove away.

Once they got to the mall where Sam Goody was they ran into a bunch of friends from school that all thought they were a couple. They weren't, but they spent so much time together that sometimes it felt like they were. They were just good friends. Brian was the first person to tell her that she was pretty, so Anna always felt some sort of attachment to him. It was more like a brotherly attachment though, since she had no siblings. They stop to engage in conversation and at first the conversation was going well, but then it turned bad. They started criticizing Brian for hanging around Anna because she was two grades younger than him and because she was perceived as the "school slut" by everyone still. Anna was under the impression that the rumors had died down, but that was all her just hoping. Brian looks at Anna and says, "I know that she would never do anything like that." Anna stares back and says "And I know he will always stand up for me." It didn't matter that there was an age gap or what people where saying. Brian grabs her arm and pulls her away, no need to stay talking to those people any longer than they already did. They get into Sam Goody and they start talking while shuffling through CD's. Brian tells her that the girl who pushed her through the mosh pit thought that she was funny and was wondering if Anna was coming back to any of the other shows after the incident. Rolling her eyes Anna says "Well yeah I want to come back, I just need ways to get there", since a lot of his shows were clear across town. That's when he says "Don't you worry your worried little head" and hands her a huge pile of passes to all of his shows. Anna doesn't look at him, instead she stares at the passes with her eyes about to pop out of her head with a smile like a colon capital D.

Where Friendship Goes Wrong: A True Story: Getting Banned From Hobby Lobby

A week had passed from the mosh pit incident, Anna had gotten a huge bruise on her back from it, but it was slowly healing.  It was the weekend, or the stinkin weekend as Anna called it. Anna gets a call from Jenny, she sounds in frazzled and like she was in a really serious situation. As Anna starts to ask her what is going on, she hears Jenny yell, "yeah well you're a stupid bitch!." After some arguing between Jenny and this new mystery girl Anna finds out that Jenny was at Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is where her old boyfriend worked. so it was all starting to make sense to her. She probably went there to confront him and it turned bad. She hurries over there, so she turns off her Sponge-bob marathon and gets on her bike and heads over. Hobby Lobby is about a 10 minute bike ride from her house, so not to far. Not following the bike rules Anna runs a few stop signs and cuts through traffic, it was dangerous, but she got there in no time at all. She locks her bike up next to Jenny's and heads inside the store. She could hear yelling, it sounded like it was coming all the way from the back of the store. She started walking but couldn't help glancing at some cool craft supplies on her way back. She cold tell that she was getting closer, they were right in front of the bathroom, next to the fake flowers. Anna approaches Jenny and asks her what is going on. Jenny explains as she is still yelling, apparently, her old boyfriend had gotten a girl pregnant. But this girl was already 5 months along, which meant they hooked up while Jenny and him were dating. Anna could see how Jenny would be mad, but she was with Wyatt now, so it shouldn't be as big of a deal as she was making it to seem.  Anna tries calming Jenny down, it was going well until her old boyfriend started to pick a fight Anna. He kept saying how fat and ugly Anna was and that is why no guy liked her. She didn't really care that her thought this, he was obviously a jerk. Anna was doing good holding her cool until he told her "I know how you lie about guys, ya know like with Lincoln, so you say these things about Wyatt and about how nice of a guy he is, but how can Jenny believe you?

When someone who had no clue about the situation with her, Lincoln and Wyatt started accusing her of lying just because of hear say Anna lost any patience she had left. She walked up to him and said "You're a lying bastard, you can't be trusted and you obviously have no sense of compassion for anything otherwise you wouldn't be such an ass wipe." He started to get ready to spit on Anna and she lost control. she kicked him square in the nuts before he could do anything. It may have not been the right thing to do or say at the time but this was the first time Anna had lost control this much. As she looked at the guy on the ground she felt a sense of confidence, she did just beat someone up, kind of, in her own Anna way. And as the Hobby Lobby security guard, since they have those apparently, took her to the back she couldn't help but smile a little. She could feel her hair blow from all the fans in their conference room she looks up and sees the manager of this Hobby Lobby location. He sighs and says that if Anna never came back to the store they wouldn't press charges against her. They still had to call her parents, but that wasn't her worry. Her dad was home and he would think this was hilarious. The manager leaves the room to go call her parents and Jenny looks at her phone, she had a text from Jenny. The text read, "I can't believe you did that lady, it was kinda awesome." Anna replies back with a ;) and an lol. She shoves her phone under her leg when she head the manager come back in. He says, "your dad will be here soon to pick you up, does he always laugh that much?" Anna smiles and says "only when I kick guys in the nuts I guess." He shakes his head and says "kids these days I tell ya." Anna pulls out her phone to play her newly downloaded Tetris game as her dad walks in, still laughing. Anna was finally released to her dad and they load her bike into his truck bed. Her dad looks at her and says "just when I thought you couldn't do anything weirder, you go and get banned from Hobby Lobby, you know mom is going to be mad at you. She loves getting craft supplies from there." Anna says "I guess we'll have to go to Michael's."

Anna gets home from her Hobby Lobby adventure and decides to call Jenny really quick just to see how she is. Jenny answers and they talk about what happened. Jenny said sorry for all the rumors about Lincoln and Wyatt. Does this mean that she was starting to believe Anna? Or does just believe her because the timing was right. Anna didn't care, an apology was an apology even if Jenny didn't mean it or mean it for very long.

Where Friendship Goes Wrong: A True Story: Anna's High School Poems!

Shadow of the Past
You glance at the past
of what your life could have been.
Reading your past memories,
You set them on fire,
as the paper is burning,
the flame it grows.
As the wind blows,
it puts away a fear and
throws away a tear.

My hatred for you,
it grows stronger and
I can't hold it any longer.
Why do I bother?
You would give it all away,
for that wish you need the most.
As you walk into the darkness,
you get further and further.
Behind you, there is a trail of blood
that weaves around your fears and
hold onto your tears.

You pass a rose
and it turns from red to black.
The darkness it grows
as your shadow it disappears,
just like a ghost.
So you close your eyes
as you wonder if anyone will save you.

As your heart stops
beat by beat
you realize that the past
you love so much
is nothing but a flame fading away.

Hey guys it's Amanda (Anna), I wanted to tell you what this poem meant to me at the time, since it can be hard to follow. It is about me losing myself and how I saw myself starting to disappear and becoming the flame fading away. At the time I really wanted to not exist and I contemplated suicide a lot, thus all the death references. I was lost and I felt alone and I think that this poem shows it very well. I would definitely write it differently now, but I love the detail in this one.

One Little Look and One Little Smile
If I listened to you every word
when you spoke, would you notice me?
How long would it take
for you to see that I am alive?
My last wish is that
I could breathe you into my life,
so that sooner or later you'd see me.
So that I would not be invisible.
What would that take?

I wounder if things would have
turned out different,
but I guess I will never know.
I would give up everything
for one little look and one little smile.

My entire dreams revolve around
the soften whisper that you gave me,
with your eyes all a glow.
I'd give up my life for that
one little look and one little smile.
I'll always wonder what is would take
to get that smile I adore upon your gleaming lips.
©AmandaCatherine

What can I saw about this one besides that I wrote it when I had a really bad crush on Wyatt. Looking back now, I would not give my life for a look or a smile. I was weirdo and took boys to seriously, like most teenage girls.

Suicide Note
Nothing ever goes right,
nothing ever falls into place.
There is no more I can take.
My stomach, it shatters
with all this pain inside me.
As I sit here, as I write this
getting all the pain inside me out
I hope that I will feel better.
But somehow my heart it splits in two
and becomes apart
of my life but also,
how much I want my family
to know that this is my suicide note.
I know it's just a bunch of words on paper,
but it's how I feel with my life
and how much I want them to know
that this is my suicide note.

As I said above, I contemplated suicide a lot. I wrote this because I wanted someone to see my pain. I was very good at hiding it and I never knew how to tell someone about all my issues. I wanted to be the happy go lucky person I made people think I was, but in actuality...

Where Friendship Goes Wrong: A True Story: Reality Sets In

Anna woke up to the birds chirping and walked to the mirror. She looked up and she had black bags under her eyes, it isn't like after an event like that she could of actually slept. She had about 40 missed calls from Ashley and Jenny, but at this point in time she did not care. Surviving this madness was what she spent her time doing, it isn't like they actually cared. If they did, it wouldn't have ended like this. She slams the bathroom door out of rage and the mirror on it breaks. She thinks to herself "Oh well 7 years of bad luck, what's that going to do to me. I am already in hell" and continues walking, not caring about the mess that she left trailed behind her. She grabs her Lynyrd Skynyrd backpack that has about 8 weeks of unfinished papers and homework in it and heads to school. With her life drama, homework was the last thing from her mind.

While at school she kept herself secluded from anyone and everything. People just cause drama. Especially in High School where everyone just wants to fit in, no matter the consequences. Her plan was to become a nobody. It shouldn't be that hard right? She looks up and sees Wyatt and Lincoln leaving an advisers office. At this point all secrets were off as she goes and asks the adviser why they were there. He tells her they were changing schools, they would be attending her school next semester. She falls into a chair as, like she was passing out. The adviser just stared at her confused. She runs out of the advisers office and she kept saying how fine she was because he kept asking. Wishing one of the jocks would shove her into a locker or that she was small enough to fit into her guitar case she finds enough courage to keep going to class. She was forming a collection of failing slips and advisory requests. If it wasn't one thing it was another. Later she ends up in an office with about 4 different people from her school, all advisers or counselors. They kept asking her why she was failing almost every class, how her home life was, if she had thought about dropping out and getting a GED and why there were so many rumors going around about her. She didn't say anything, she was surprised about how fast everyone was giving up in her and gets up and walks out.

Ashley and Jenny were waiting for her by her locker, the one place Anna frequented. Ashley says "so I heard what you did to my brother, my mom is still mad you know. You could have really messed up Lincolns future." It was becoming blatantly obvious that no one cared about her or her future. She pushes them both out of the way and leaves school, she was excused for the rest of the day because of the advisory meeting she was supposed to be in. She puts on her headphones and ignores the world and then she runs into Wyatt and Lincoln outside, Lincoln looks at her, honestly she was kind of hoping for an apology even if he didn't mean it. Those words, I'm sorry, could make everything seem not so bad. He hands her a note and she opens it. It reads,

Anna,
It is better if people see what happened in this way. I have to much on the line to have to deal with this. Also I know you liked it as much as I liked doing it to you.

Lincoln

Anna starts crying, tears up the note and throws it at him right as Jenny comes out and starts making out with Wyatt. Lincoln pushes Anna up against against a tree and tries to make out with her. One of Anna's teachers sees what is going on and intervenes. It was her favorite teacher, Mr. Jones. He pulls Anna up to his classroom that was empty and sits her down, hands her a box of tissues and says "tell me everything, I know something is wrong. You can't hide it anymore.
